  1. For Gravy
  2. 2 medium Tomatoes
  3. 2 medium Onions, finely chopped
  4. 1/2 cup Milk 🥛
  5. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  6. 1/2 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
  7. 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  10. 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  11. 1/4 cup thick Curd (yogurt) (not sour)
  12. 3/4 cup Water
  13. 2 tablespoons Oil
  14. Salt to taste
  15. 2-3 tbsp Cream
  16. Ingredients for Kofta:
  17. 1 1/2 cups grated Lauki (bottle gourd/ghiya/doodhi)
  18. 5 tablespoons Gram Flour
  19. 2 tablespoon Rice Flour
  20. 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion 🧅
  21. 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  22. 1/2 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
  23. 2 tablespoons finely chopped green chillies
  24. Oil for deep frying
  25. Salt to taste

Instructions to make to make Lauki Ke koftay

  1. Peel and grate lauki. Squeeze out the water completely and keep that water for making gravy.
  2. Take squeezed grated lauki in a large bowl. Add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, finely chopped green chilli, finely chopped onion and salt.
  3. Mix all ingredients well. Mixture should have a thick consistency to make round shaped balls. If it is watery then add 1-2 teaspoons gram flour and mix. Do not keep this mixture idle for long time since lauki releases water over time and it will make mixture soggy and you will not be able to make kofta balls.
  4. Grease your palms with oil and divide mixture into 10 to 12 portions. Take each portion and turn it into round shaped balls.
  5. Boil tomato and onion in milk till it half dries up then blend it in to a smooth paste
  6. Heat oil and add the paste in it add all the ingredients in it and bhonify for few minutes add the kofta in curry and add water in it cook covered for 3-4minutes
  7. Add cream in it and serve with hot chapati
